Through the end of 2013, more than 19 million Americans had elected to have LASIK vision correction surgery, with very high satisfaction rates. There are many reasons why people choose LASIK vision correction—a chance at better vision without corrective lenses, correction that lenses may not provide, less hassle and lower cost—and the procedure is available to a variety of people.
So it should be no surprise that many celebrities, athletes, and other famous folk are satisfied LASIK patients.
Actors who have had LASIK include Brad Pitt, Julianne Moore and Reese Witherspoon, among many others. If you keep up with the Kardashians, you might know that Kim Kardashian is a LASIK beneficiary. And if you’ve seen a Weird Al Yankovic video recently, you’ll notice that his old nerdy glasses are gone—thanks to LASIK.
Scores of professional athletes have chosen LASIK as a way to improve their performance and vision, on and off the field. Atlanta Braves pitcher Greg Maddux didn’t tell his manager or his front office that he was having LASIK vision correction (something that understandably caused some hearts to beat faster). But, the only man ever to win four consecutive Cy Young Awards and a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 2014 didn’t miss a beat—and eliminated the trouble he was having with contact lenses during games. Tom Kite had LASIK, as have many other PGA golfers. Basketball superstars LeBron James and Dwayne Wade have had LASIK.
Elton John and Carlos Santana are among musicians who’ve had the procedure. LASIK vision correction has also been approved for astronauts, members of the military and many other active, high-risk professions. And if you’d like to know more about local celebs who’ve had LASIK at the Campbell Cunningham Laser Center, take a look at the testimonials from WIVK’s Gunner and local sports journalist Jimmy Hyams. Plus, there’s more!
It’s no surprise that high-paid celebrities would choose LASIK, but LASIK is affordable enough so that many people can take advantage of its benefits.
Are you one of them?
You can find out quickly by using our “Am I A Candidate” questionnaire. It only takes about five minutes to complete it. A member of our staff will review your answers and provide you with a prompt, custom response that can let you know if LASIK is right for you.
Who knows? LASIK might the first step on your path to superstardom.
