When you enter the Campbell Cunningham Laser Center, you will be greeted by a smiling face and a friendly voice. If you have a question, you can ask any staff member and they will either be able to tell you the answer or put you in touch with the person who can.
The members of our team are dedicated and experienced professionals.
Rebekah Dotson
Title: Laser Center Director
Job Duties: I oversee everything in the Laser Center. I ensure that processes, from the beginning to the end, are operated with patients in mind. We want the best possible outcome for each patient, and it’s my job to see that we make that happen.
Year Joined: I joined the Campbell Cunningham Laser Center early in 2017, but my father is a retired Ophthalmologist. So, I guess you could say I have a lifetime of experience.
Philosophy: Customer service and patient care is my number one priority, and everything else falls behind that after the patient is taken care of. We want to do what’s best for the patient, and I love helping educate patients do the right thing for their overall vision health care.
Why do you love your job?: I love getting to know the community and our patients one-on-one. Customer service is the best part for me!
Tell us more: I love to be outside! I’m on the lake every weekend. I also really enjoy visiting wineries and visiting new places, including traveling outside of the country.

Title: Patient Educator
Job Duties: I do patient consultations. I check people in and I check them out. I answer phones. Also, I do some community outreach. I’m the non-clinical “go-to” person.
Year Started: 2004
What is your work philosophy?: To work hard and be excited in what I’m doing. If I am happy and confident at my job it will show to everyone around me.
Why do you love your job?: I love being involved in patient care. I love watching our patients enjoy a fresh start. When they tell you stories about how happy they were when they could open their eyes, look across the room and see their alarm clock. Little things like that make it so exciting.
Tell us more: Last year, a father called us from out of town. His son was about to make a career move and his dad wanted to surprise him with LASIK. It’s the gift that keeps giving.

Title: Check In/Check Out Coordinator & Surgery Day Hostess
Job Duties: In addition to answering the phone, I check in patients for surgery, seeing to their comfort, addressing their concerns and making sure all consent forms and payment arrangements are in order. I also check out patients after surgery, seeing that they have their medications and instructions. When needed, I assist in LASIK surgery.
Philosophy: When patients come here for surgery, they’re often a bit apprehensive. I make it my job to put them at ease. I want each one to feel like he or she is the most important patient we’ll see that day.
Why do you love your job? I’ve been in the optical field since I was 18 years old and I love it. I enjoy a wide variety of tasks and meeting new people. I get plenty of both here at the Laser Center. I never get bored!
The most rewarding aspect of the job is seeing the change we can make in people’s lives. They come in with serious visual problems and we can help them. Being part of that is very satisfying.
Tell us more: The happiest moments in my life are the ones I spend with my three children and little grandbaby (Yes, I’m a grandmother, but a very young one!) For vacations, I love the beach—South Florida, Mexico or the Caribbean—but as a native Knoxvillian, East Tennessee will always be home to me.
