Preparing for Your LASIK Pre-Operative Exam
Once you decide to move forward with LASIK at Campbell Cunningham Laser Center, the next step is to schedule your pre-operative LASIK exam. This exam must be completed at least one day before your surgery and is required to confirm that LASIK is right for you.
Can I wear my contacts before my LASIK pre-operative exam?
If you wear contact lenses, you will need to stop wearing them at least 1 week before your pre-op exam. After your exam, you will be asked not to wear contact lenses again until after your LASIK procedure. The exact timing may vary based on the type of contacts you use.
How long does a LASIK pre-operative exam take?
Your LASIK pre-operative exam will take about 2 to 3 hours. During this visit, our doctors and staff will perform a complete eye exam to confirm your eligibility and create a custom LASIK treatment plan designed for your eyes. All necessary testing and measurements are done at this appointment. Your eyes will also be dilated, so you may notice light sensitivity afterward.

As part of your exam, we use advanced corneal mapping technology to carefully map the surface of your cornea. This detailed corneal mapping helps guide your personalized LASIK treatment. This corneal mapping technology is part of the WaveLight® Refractive Suite which offers 100% blade-free LASIK.
What happens after my pre-operative exam?
After your pre-operative exam, your surgeon will review your results with you, discuss expectations, and explain your treatment options. Our team will then schedule your LASIK surgery and provide clear instructions for surgery day, including arrival time, what to wear and transportation guidelines – so you feel fully prepared and confident for your procedure.
