Did you know that LASIK can actually save you money?! The cost of contact lenses, glasses, and lens cleaning products adds up over a lifetime and ends up costing more than LASIK. At Campbell Cunningham Laser Center, we understand that even though LASIK can save you money over your lifetime – cost can be a concern. That’s why we accept financing through CareCredit® – if you qualify, you could have LASIK with no money down and pay it off over time!

LASIK FAQs

What is LASIK?

LASIK, or Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, is a specialized surgical procedure that uses a cool beam of ultraviolet light to reshape the cornea to improve vision. The first step involves using a femtosecond laser to carefully create a small flap in the cornea, which allows access for an excimer laser to gently reshape the cornea. Once that flap is put back into place, it begins to heal immediately. The LASIK technology utilized at Campbell Cunningham Laser Center is 100% blade-free and offers some of the most precise and predictable outcomes to date.

Many patients notice clearer vision within hours of their LASIK procedure, with vision continuing to improve over the following days and weeks. While recovery is typically quick, every patient heals at a different pace.

To monitor your progress and ensure optimal healing, we schedule follow-up visits one day after surgery, then at approximately two weeks, one month, three months, six months, and one year after your procedure.

If you have any questions, concerns, or need additional post-operative care at any point during your recovery, our team is available to see you as needed at no additional cost.

LASIK disqualifying examples include being under the age of 18, having an unstable vision prescription (no significant changes for at least one year), or having a prescription that falls outside the treatable range (-10 ≤ or +6 ≥).* Certain eye conditions such as thin or irregular corneas, keratoconus, severe dry eye, cataracts, glaucoma or active eye infections may also disqualify you. Medical conditions like uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune diseases, or being pregnant or nursing can affect healing and may require delaying or avoiding LASIK. *The best way to know for sure is to schedule a Clear Vision Consultation, where our experienced team will carefully evaluate your eyes and recommend the safest vision correction option for you.

Technically, there is no upper age limit for LASIK as age alone does not determine candidacy – what matters most is the health of your eyes and the stability of your vision. As we get older, natural changes like the need for reading glasses or the development of cataracts can affect which vision correction option is best. During a Clear Vision Consultation at Campbell Cunningham Laser Center, our experienced team will carefully evaluate your eyes and discuss whether LASIK or another procedure like Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) or Cataract Surgery is the safest and most effective choice for you.

Yes, alternatives to LASIK at Campbell Cunningham Laser Center include: PRK, EVO ICLTM and Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE). Each LASIK alternative offers something different and covers a wide range of ages and lifestyles.
