Cataract Surgery
Cataract Surgery in Knoxville, TN
If you’re over 55 and have noticed changes in your vision, it might be time for cataract surgery. A cataract is the clouding of your eye lens due to the build-up of natural proteins in the eye. As a result, light entering the eyes has to pass through the cloudy areas to reach the retina, thus altering vision.
Cataract symptoms:
- Cloudy, blurry vision
- Double vision
- Halos around bright lights
- Yellow or brown tint to your vision
- Difficulty seeing at night
- Difficulty distinguishing colors
- Blindness if not treated
Cataract surgery is the only way to restore clear vision, but there are many different options within the surgical process that you should be aware of – not all eye doctors offer dropless cataract surgery or have the same advanced technologies that we have invested in.
IOL Options at Campbell Cunningham Laser Center
Cataract surgery removes your cloudy lens and replaces it with an Intraocular Lens (IOL). We offer several types of IOLs chosen based on your lifestyle, vision goals and eye health.
Monofocal IOLs
These are the most common lenses and usually focus at one distance, most often for clear distance vision. Many patients still need reading glasses for up-close tasks.
Toric IOLs
Designed for people with astigmatism, Toric lenses correct the uneven shape of the eye so you can see more clearly without glasses after surgery.
Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) IOLs
EDOF lenses help you see clearly at a range of distances – even intermediate tasks like computer work – while reducing glare and halos.
Multifocal / Trifocal IOLs
These advanced lenses give you vision at near, intermediate, and far distances. They are a good choice for patients who want to reduce their reliance on glasses for most daily activities.
Light Adjustable Lens
The Light Adjustable Lens is a unique IOL that can be customized after surgery using gentle ultraviolet (UV) light treatments to fine-tune your vision for your unique eyes and goals.
Our team will explain each lens choice and help you pick the one that best fits your lifestyle – whether that’s reading without glasses, driving at night comfortably or seeing clearly at all distances. A Clear Vision Consultation is the best way to learn which option is right for you.
