Day of Procedure
What to Expect on the Day of Your LASIK Procedure
When you come in for your custom LASIK procedure at Campbell Cunningham Laser Center, our goal is to make your experience smooth and comfortable. LASIK is designed to enhance your lifestyle by helping reduce or even eliminate your need for glasses or contact lenses.
Can I eat or drink before LASIK?
On the day of your procedure, there are no food or drink restrictions, but please do not wear makeup, perfume, or cologne, as fragrances can interfere with the laser. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing.
Do I need someone to drive me home after LASIK?
You will need someone to drive you home after LASIK, as your vision may be blurry right after the procedure. Please bring all required paperwork with you, completed and ready to submit.
How long does LASIK take?
During the LASIK procedure, your surgeon will ask you to look at a small flashing red light while carefully monitoring your eye. You may hear a clicking sound from the laser – this is normal and expected. The entire treatment usually takes about 15 minutes or less.
What happens when my LASIK procedure is done?
After your procedure, your LASIK surgeon will examine your eyes, and our team will review your post-operative care instructions. You will receive a post-op kit to help protect and care for your eyes at home. Once everything is complete, you may leave with your driver to rest.
Most patients return for LASIK follow-up visits one day after surgery, then at two weeks, one month, three months, six months and one year. If you ever need additional post-operative care, you can be seen at no extra cost.
